ZAP! A $240,302.70 LIGHTNING LOTTO win strikes in St. Albert!

Alain Benio was about to start his shift on May 12, when he bought a LIGHTNING LOTTO ticket. Suddenly, all of the “bells and whistles” (the thunderclap that follows a LIGHTNING LOTTO win) went off and Benio was $240,302.70 richer!

“My first thought was something along the lines of: ‘WTF?!’” he laughed while claiming his prize. “I was immediately so excited!”

The new winner said after he told his boss the good news, he called home.

“The first thing my aunt asked me was: ‘Are you sure you checked it right?’” he said. “I said: ‘I’m pretty sure!’”

Now that his family is convinced that Benio won the $240,302.70 prize, they’ve started to discuss what he could do with the windfall.

“My family told me to really think about my future,” he explained. “So, I’m going to do the financially responsible things. Hopefully, if I invest it well, it will make me some ‘fun money’.”

But it’s not all responsibility for Benio; he does want to buy himself a fun thing or two in the near future.

“I would like to buy a new vehicle and maybe a couple of video games,” he chuckled. “The majority of the money will go to savings though.”

Benio purchased his winning ticket from the Shell located at 395 St. Albert Trail in St. Albert. He won the jackpot by matching the five numbers drawn on the morning of May 12 – 24, 26, 33, 48 and 49.
