Didsbury couple takes home $5M on LOTTO 6/49 with special selection!

After decades together, Murray and Darlene Timmins are rich in love…and now they’ve won $5 million on the June 26 LOTTO 6/49 draw, they’re just plain rich, too!

The couple has a routine when it comes to lottery purchases.

“We’ve been playing the same numbers since the 80s,” Darlene said. “They were the same numbers my late father played, as well.”

“She checks the tickets while she drinks her coffee,” Murray added. “Before I even get up in the morning.”

Darlene was shocked to see that those special numbers had finally been drawn.

“I said, ‘I think we won! Look, look!’” she laughed.

“I was expecting a free play or something,” admitted Murray. “I couldn’t believe it.”

The best part of their win? The ability to finally enjoy retirement together.

“My husband doesn’t need to work anymore,” Darlene beamed. “Now he can stay home and look after me!”

“We’re going to Montreal to see family,” Murray added. “I haven’t seen my mom in 20 years.”

Even more special is the feeling of winning with her late father’s number selection.

“I still can’t believe it,” Darlene said. “I’ve been playing those numbers since 1985.”

“[When I saw the win] I just said, ‘Thanks, Dad.’”

The Timminses purchased their winning LOTTO 6/49 ticket at Canco located at 1620 20 Street in Didsbury. They won their prize by matching all six numbers selected in the June 26 LOTTO 6/49 Classic draw: 2, 7, 10, 23, 25 and 29.

Myth: Playing the same numbers every week gives me a greater chance of winning the Jackpot.

Fact: Each draw is an independent event, and all numbers have the same chance of being selected for every draw.
